Joining a union is “a fundamental human right” that gives employees a chance to “climb the economic ladder,” said national United Steelworkers International President Leo Gerard in a Texarkana rally Saturday.

Without a chance at the economic ladder, people become oppressed, Gerard said during the rally at the United Steelworkers Local 752L Hall across from Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.
