Transportation officials are saying it takes time to move the earth, but the widening of Richmond Road is on schedule.

When complete, the narrow stretch of Richmond Road will become two lanes each direction with a center turn lane. New signal lights for the project will be at Airline Street, Kings Highway and Farm to Market Road 2878.

“The dirtwork is the slow part. When you get to concrete paving and hot mix you really see it go fast,” said Kenny Icenhower, engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation’s Atlanta district.
