Dog daysAnimal shelter needs more food donations
![]() John Davenport and his father, Eric, move to a storage area some of the 16 bags of dog food they donated Friday to the Texarkana Animal Care and Adoption Center. The shelter goes through 150 pounds of food a day and is in need of dog and puppy food. The local dog food shortage mirrors a national trend regarding shelters who’ve seen their food donations drop. “This is a common problem that seems to be occurring in shelters across the nation,” said Mimi McDaniel, Texarkana Animal League chairman. “Recently a shelter in Texas was so low on food donations they were forced to euthanize animals.
