The family of a Hooks, Texas, man who was killed by a falling beam on a construction site at Pilgrim’s Pride in Mount Pleasant, Texas, is suing the company that owned and operated the crane.

Bobby Spray Elrod, 60, was killed Jan. 2 when a steel column or beam suspended by nylon cables came loose and dropped.

Ashdown, Ark., TDS Erectors Inc. has been named as a defendant in the federal suit filed by Elrod’s daughter, Ashley Ebner Johnson of Petrolia, Texas, earlier this month.
