The Arkansas Supreme Court accepted a petition Thursday filed by local attorney Don Cooksey to voluntarily surrender his law license.

“I guess I feel relieved because I don’t ever have to deal with the office of professional responsibility of the state of Arkansas again,” Cooksey said. “In particular, with Stark Ligon.”

Ligon is the executive director of the Committee on Professional Conduct for the Arkansas Supreme Court.

“We will report this to the Texas Bar and they will take whatever action they deem appropriate under their rules,” Ligon said.
