The political winds are starting to blow stronger and may open up the sails of Arkansas state Sen. Gilbert Baker, R-Conway. He is now a candidate for U.S. Senate.

During a stop Thursday at the Texarkana Regional Airport, Baker said he will “focus on the political winds blowing,” referring to Republicans winning two governor races Tuesday in the northeast region of the U.S.

He also said polls show voters in Arkansas are “tired of spending” and the “ongoing encroachment of the federal governments into our lives.”
