Visitors to the Texarkana, Texas, Police Department headquarters in the Bi-State Justice Building will see a change in the form of a reception window added as a safety measure.

Sgt. Shawn Fitzgerald said the addition is a “preventative measure for (the department’s) noncommissioned civilians,” and was put in place to “provide a more safe environment for (those) employees.”

Before the addition, those visiting the department were able to walk directly in without stopping at a reception area.
