LINDEN, Texas—The results of a rape kit performed on a Hughes Springs man who authorities allege was murdered with a sledge hammer by his stepson aren’t back from the crime lab yet, said Cass County District Attorney Clint Allen in a pretrial hearing Friday.

Glen Loudale Bowling appeared Friday before 5th District Judge Ralph Burgess with his defense attorney, Robert Witterstaetter of Texarkana.

Bowling is accused of using a sledge hammer to kill Patrick Cathey, 47, after an argument May 14.
