Citizens salute soldiers, share stories at annual parade

Men and women who fought and gave their all for America were celebrated Saturday as motorcycles roared, bands played and red, white and blue waved in downtown Texarkana during the annual Veterans Day Parade.

Despite the mornings dreary outlook, the sun chased the clouds away and brought with it warmer temperatures for the event that honors veterans young and old, at home and abroad, alive and fallen.

Marine Corps veteran Michael Lewis sat on the tailgate of his pickup, surrounded by family, and watched as the parade passed. Lewis served in active duty from 1983 to 1997 ...
