A traffic stop on Interstate 30 landed two people in jail early Friday after officers discovered nearly half a million dollars of marijuana inside the vehicle, authorities said.

Charles Rodriquez of Edinburg, Texas, and Ruby Vallejo of Pasadena, Texas, were arrested by Texas Department of Public Safety troopers about 1 a.m. Friday after 481 pounds of marijuana were found. The pair were in a U-Haul truck traveling eastbound when troopers stopped them near Hooks, Texas, for driving in the left passing lane without passing, according to the trooper’s report.
