LITTLE ROCK—Arkansas’ first winner of a Powerball jackpot was from Conway, and he took home $8.3 million of a $25 million prize after taxes and other deductions, state lottery officials said Tuesday.

Harold W. Bailey bought his winning ticket for the Jan. 2 drawing at a Crackerbox in Mayflower. He claimed his winnings Friday.

Bailey took a lump sum payment of $12.2 million instead of 30 annual payments that would have totaled $25 million, officials said.
