GILMER, Texas—Maud advanced to the regional quarterfinals Friday with a 5-2 victory over Martins Mill in the area finals.

Kara Sutton fanned 11 batters and limited Martins Mill to just four hits. Taylor Montgomery finished with two hits, and Amanda Wright, Ashley Foster and Cara Cloude each added a hit.

The Lady Cardinals (21-10) will take on the winner of North Hopkins and Jouquain in the next round.
