AHS’ defense backed up Mollie Morphew’s four-hit shutout performance in its opening game win, 4-0. The Lady Backs turned two doubleplays in the second game to complete the sweep, 5-3.

“We played outstanding defense,” said Arkansas High coach Heidi Cox. “I told them after the first game that if we played that kind of defense and we hit the ball we are capable of beating any team.”
