HALLSVILLE, Texas—Maud freshman Kara Sutton tossed a 1-hitter and Amanda Wright supplied the offense with a two-run homer to power the Lady Cardinals to a 2-0 victory over sixth-ranked Elkhart Slocum here Friday night in the Class 1A state softball playoffs.

With the win, Maud advances to the Region III-A finals against the winner of the Detroit-Alto series. The Lady Cardinals (23-10) finished runner-up to Detroit in their district race.
