New Boston, catcher Jones atop coaches’ honor squad
District champion New Boston garnered three of the five superlative awards on the coaches’ 17-2A all-district softball team for 2008, including Most Valuable Player Erin Jones.
Jones, a senior catcher, helped lead the Lions to the Region III-2A semifinals. Lady Lion junior Laura Raney was named offensive Player of the Year, and Gary Miller is the Coach of the Year. Other superlatives went to Linden-Kildare junior Alicia Washington, the defensive Player of the Year, and Queen City freshman Chelsea Ivy, a unanimous choice as Newcomer of the Year. T...
