BASEBALL: Several area high school players will participate in the 21st annual Ryon Simmons All-Star Classic Sunday at Driller Park in Kilgore.

The event, which features two games and includes players from all classifications, begins at 2 p.m. It is sponsored by the Longview chapter of TASO (Texas Association of Sports Officials) and is named in honor of 1966 Hallsville High graduate Simmons, who died in a car accident in 2000 en route to umpire a game.
