ARLINGTON, Texas—Two area athletes earned gold medals Friday at the Texas Special Olympics State Summer Games at the University of Texas-Arlington.

Kyle Driscoll of Pleasant Grove and Nicola Carey of New Boston Community, Bowie’s Best, representing the Bowie County Special Olympics, were the gold medal winners in the softball throw for distance and 50-meter walk, respectively.
