• Timing is said to be everything, and perhaps that opinion can be applied to last Sunday’s record crowd for the Gunslingers’ home opener against McKinney.

Played on a holiday eve with no school and the majority of workers off on Monday, the official gate count was 1,806. It turned out to be an attendance record for the 2-year-old Continental Baseball League.

Timing could have also contributed to attendance dropping the next night by nearly 80 percent. Only 365 fans showed up Memorial Day to watch the Gunslingers drop their fourth straight game to the Blue Thunder.
