AVINGER, Texas—Avinger senior Eric Gibbs has signed a letter-of-intent to play basketball at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall.

The Indians’ Class A all-stater was the MVP in District 23-A, and state free throw champion (78 of 94), leading Avinger to the Region III-A finals with a 33-2 record. Gibbs was named to the Texarkana Gazette’s All Area Team.

“Eric was one of the best I’ve had at seeing the floor,” former Avinger coach Ken Loyd said.

Gibbs is the son of Gary Gibbs of Avinger, and Vicki Gibbs of Gilmer.
