One step shy

Hawks have to be content with second-place finish

There are 178 Class 3A baseball teams that Pleasant Grove finished ahead of this season. There was just one it didn’t.

The Hawks’ 2008 campaign was filled with big games—both regular season and postseason—and the team seemed to find a way to get over its obstacles more often than not.

However, that wasn’t the case Thursday at the University of Texas’ Disch-Falk Field. Snyder senior Brent Bollinger quieted PG’s thunderous bats to help the Tigers eke out a 3-2 8-inning victory in the 3A state finals.
