Running races on two consecutive days didn’t seem to affect Texarkana’s Jeff Haynes very much.

The 42-year-old Trinity Christian Academy track and cross country coach was the overall winner of the Firecracker 5K here Saturday.

Haynes ran the 3.1-mile course at Spring Lake Park in a time of 18:11. He had an 18:08 in the Independence Day 5K in Shreveport Friday.

In winning the race, Haynes beat out a couple of Atlanta teenagers. Will Allen, 17, placed second in 18.29, and Chris Ibarra, 13, was a close third in 18.34.
