John Elizondo of San Antonio posted six birdies and an eagle on his way to a 6-under-par 66 and a two-shot lead during Thursday’s first round play in the 2008 Century Bank Rising Star Open at the Texarkana Golf Ranch.

The 24-year-old Adams Golf Pro Tour Series rookie was among the final players to finish. Elizondo was also one of eight golfers to break par in the afternoon when the humid conditions took a toll on many players. Only three players scored under par in a better morning session climate.
