BASEBALL: Lowell blew an 8-2 lead in the second game of its best-of-three playoff series with Batavia in the Class A Short-Season New York-Penn League as the Spinners lost, 13-9. Former Liberty-Eylau player Will Middlebrooks had a triple, two singles and a walk in the loss after hitting a home run and two singles in a 4-3 win earlier.

The two teams played the decisive third game of the series Wednesday night.
