NEW BOSTON, Texas—Hurricane Ike might actually do Brad Goethals a favor.

The 40-year-old Goethals conquered rain and wind Saturday at Oak Grove Golf Club with a 2-under-par 70 for a 54-hole total of 220 in the Texarkana Golf Association’s City Championships.

Goethals holds a 3-stroke lead over professional racer Gary Wright, who posted a 71. That score was matched by Chase Dixon, who is another shot back at 224. Alan Blankenship follows at 225, with Tyler Norton, Richard Waddell, Kavin Nield and Randy Moore all tied at 226.
