‘This is the first time I’ve started my quarterback on defense,’ coach says

MINERAL SPRINGS, Ark.—Another pupil challenges his mentor Friday when unbeaten Mineral Springs (2-0) travels to Stamps, where the Hornets face unbeaten Lafayette County (2-0).

The Cougars’ first-year head coach Jeff McBride played quarterback at Nashville for current Mineral Springs coach Gary Segrest.

“It’s Jeff’s first head-coaching experience, and he’s doing a good job,” Segrest said. “We’re still friends.”

That friendship may not be evident until after Friday’s game.
