Lafayette County is looking to establish itself as a force in Class 3A, and the Cougars will be a step closer if they can beat traditional 2A power Mineral Springs.

Those two Southwest Arkansas schools clash in Stamps tonight, both entering the contest with 2-0 records.

“Our guys are miles ahead of the first week when we played Spring Hill,” said Lafayette County’s rookie head coach Jeff McBride. “We had a lot of mental mistakes that first week, but we played much better at Bauxite. The kids are starting to see things work.”
