Odds are not many who follow high school football would have expected Pleasant Grove to be the last unbeaten team in the city midway through the season.

Count among the surprised Hawks head coach Kevin Davis.

“I didn’t know how quickly we could come together as a team,” said Davis, in his fourth season as head of the PG program. “When you lose 21 seniors, that’s a bunch, especially in (Class) 3A. I didn’t know how mature our senior class would be, but they’ve come in and taken on a lot. That’s made a big difference in our start.”
