Even big leads weren’t necessarily safe in the District 16-3A volleyball match between two state-ranked teams from Texarkana Friday.

Pleasant Grove overcame a huge deficit in the third game, as did Liberty-Eylau in Game 4, and managed to hang on in the fifth game to remain unbeaten in league play with a 25-20, 15-25, 28-26, 21-25, 15-11 victory at Hawks Gym.

The Lady Hawks improved to 26-9 overall and 5-0 to wrap up the first half of district play. The Lady Leopards dropped to 22-8, 3-2.
