HOOKS, Texas—Running back Brandon Holloway rushed for 197 yards and three touchdowns, powering the DeKalb Bears to a crucial 28-12 victory over Hooks in a key District 12-2A battle Friday night.

Holloway carried the ball 18 times and scored on runs of 12 and 1 yards for DeKalb (3-3, 2-1), one of the district’s preseason favorites. The Hornets fall to 2-3, 1-2.

Holloway scored both his touchdown in the second quarter that saw the Bears take a 15-6 halftime lead.

Hooks scored its touchdown on Justin Choate’s 1-yard pass to Shawn Sims.
