First-place Pine Tree hands setback to Lady Tigers

Texas High couldn’t get its passes to Teeundra Thompson soon enough to make a difference.

The Lady Tigers’ hard-hitting lefthander had seven of her match-high 11 kills in the third game Tuesday at Tiger Center, but it wasn’t nearly enough as Pine Tree remained unbeaten in District 13-4A by defeating THS 25-21, 25-14, 25-22.

Pine Tree (22-13, 9-0) trailed 22-19 in the decisive third game when Tatum Guyer stepped to the service line. Six consecutive points, including three aces for the match’s final points turned Guyer into an immediate hero.
