Ben Williams is playing for a 1-5 football team, and his current statistics could hardly be classified as eye-catching.

Still, Southern Arkansas University’s diminutive linebacker has been a rare success story for the Muleriders in 2008.

Williams has started all six Muleriders games this fall. Going into last Saturday’s Homecoming game with Arkansas Tech, he ranked seventh on SAU’s defense with 14 tackles, three behind the line of scrimmage. He had defended one pass and forced a fumble.
