The City of Texarkana, Ark., wants to get wet and wild with $13 million and construct a water park.

A feasibility study for the park, to draw tourists and provide recreation for local residents, should be completed by the end of the year and financing decisions made in 2009.

“I see this water park as a catalyst for future economic development,” said Jeff Hill, public works director, who sees recreational, dining and hotel opportunities. “We would be bringing in people from a five-state region, hopefully, that will be staying here.”
