It’s no accident that Texas High will be making its 19th consecutive regional team tennis appearance this weekend.

John Watson’s TISD program continues to be one of the most successful in the state. The Tigers have won every team tennis title in the fall since the school was reclassified 4A in 1990. The boys teams have won every spring district title in that same time frame, and the girls have either won or shared the league championship in all but one.

Watson’s grassroots program starts at the sixth-grade level, and he estimates this year’s numbers at 340 in all grades...
