PINEVILLE, La.—Sometimes the numbers don’t lie.

Such was the case when Dierks’ Lance Stone was named the Texarkana Gazette’s Player of the Year after the 2004 high school football season.

Stone caught 63 passes for 1,082 yards and 14 touchdowns during his senior season for the Outlaws. He was equally brilliant on defense with 10 interceptions, and also handled the place-kicking chores with 35 PATs and three field goals.
