Five area teams open the UIL state volleyball playoff bi-district round tonight at four different locations.

District 12-2A runner-up Redwater faces Howe at 7:30 p.m. in Sulphur Springs, and Hooks, which beat Paul Pewitt in five games to clinch the third spot from District 12, tangles with Gunter at 7 in Commerce.

Daingerfield and Hughes Springs, who were second and third from District 17-2A, respectively, play a doubleheader against New Diana and Big Sandy at Ore City. Hughes Springs and Big Sandy clash at 6, and Daingerfield and New Diana play at 8.
