Texas High coach Chris Pennington wasn’t surprised his team started slow against a short-handed New Boston team Tuesday at Tiger Center.

“We had beaten them pretty handily in a scrimmage here last weekend,” Pennington said moments after watching his team finish strong for a 78-58 victory.

Sophomore post Greg Pollins and veteran Willie McClure sparked the Tigers’ late run, the 6-3 Pollins finishing with 27 points and 11 rebounds. McClure assisted on three of Pollins’ layups, while scoring 18 points.
