Texarkana native Arthur James, who earned the name “King Arthur” during his record-setting football career at East Texas State University (now Texas A&M-Commerce) will be honored this weekend by his hometown.

New Town Baptist Church, James’ former church, will pay a formal tribute to the man who rose through the football ranks from Texarkana Dunbar High School. The ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday at the church, 2213 Taylor Street.
