Maud learned that lesson the hard way Saturday at the Royce City ISD Stadium, having its otherwise perfect season ruined by a determined Cayuga team bent on revenge.

The Wildcats, losers to Maud in the regional semifinals last year, built a 20-6 halftime lead and made it stand up, avenging that loss with a 27-18 triumph that left the Cardinals two games shy of their state championship goal.
