SIMMS, Texas—McLeod’s boys and Avery’s girls captured third place in the ninth annual James Bowie Pirates Basketball Tournament Saturday.

A big fourth quarter lifted McLeod to a 56-44 victory over host James Bowie, while Avery defeated Bloomburg, 43-30.

In late championship games, the Trinity Christian Warriors played Bloomburg, and James Bowie’s Lady Pirates hoped to keep their perfect record alive at 11-0.
