HOOKS, Texas—Pleasant Grove has begun the season with back-to-back shutouts for the first time.

The Hawks followed last week’s 47-0 whitewashing of Pine Tree with a 40-0 victory over Hooks to collect consecutive shutouts for the third time in school history and first since 1988 Friday.

Backup quarterback Will Powell was 5 of 7 for 105 yards and two scores, the PG defense held the Hornets under 90 yards of offense, and Antonio Graves had two scoring runs and flung a third as the Hawks improved to 2-0 on the young season.
