NORMAN, Okla.-The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch across much of Oklahoma following heavy rainfall across the region.
The flood watch is in effect through Thursday evening in many western, central and southern Oklahoma counties.
In addition, a flash flood warning is in effect in southwestern Johnston County and northern Marshall County in southeastern Oklahoma until 10 a.m. Forecasters say more than an inch of rain has already fallen in the area and another inch is possible Thursday morning. Areas that could experience flooding include Durant, Madill and Tishomingo.
Forecasters say scattered thunderstorms will continue across the state through Thursday night, although severe storms are not expected.
The chance of thunderstorms will continue on Friday and Saturday. Forecasters say severe weather is unlikely.
