Smoke fills the valley Wednesday in Waterton Lakes, Alberta, Canada. The townsite, which is inside Waterton National Park, was evacuated on Sept. 8 because of the Kenow wildfire. Parts of the national park reopened to the public Wednesday. In addition to Kenow's rampage in Canada, wildfires have ravaged the United States' West this summer with 64 large fires burning across 10 states, including 21 fires in Montana and 18 in Oregon. In all, 48,607 wildfires have burned nearly 13,000 square miles. However, recent snowfall and rain have helped dampen multiple blazes in Oregon.
