Dining Dilemma: What favorite foods are missing from Texarkana's dining scene?

There are a lot of dining options in the Twin Cities.

It's a far cry from just a couple of decades ago. But as the cities have grown, more and more restaurants have moved in.

Some are parts of national chains. Some are locally owned and operated, unique to Texarkana.

Of course, not everyone is satisfied with what we have.

On social media, when the topic of T-Town restaurants comes up-and it comes up a lot-some folks are quick to complain that all you can get here are burgers, barbecue, fried chicken, Mexican or Chinese.

Truthfully, there is more variety available. But we are still not Dallas-nor even Shreveport-in the range of cuisine on tap.

We want to know what types of restaurants you would like to see locate in Texarkana. What are your favorites foods that you can't get here?

Send your response (50 words maximum) to [email protected] by Wednesday, Feb. 17. You can also mail your response to the Texarkana Gazette Friday Poll, at P.O. Box 621, Texarkana, TX 75504. Be sure to include your name, address and phone number. We will print as many responses as we can in next Friday's paper.

Last Week: Terms Limits

Last week's poll was about the effort of returning Arkansas term limits to the stricter version approved by voters in 1992. Do you support the old, stricter term limits? Or are you comfortable with a state senator or representative serving up to 16 years in office?

The older stricter term limits are best, then if the incumbents' actions have been contrary to the welfare of the state and citizens, the voters can replace them. The 50 states should demand going back to marked paper ballots. Otherwise, between gerrymandering and corruptible e-voting machines, the voice of the people will not be heard through their votes.-J.B., Texarkana, Ark.

  • I say, "Work for it!" 16 years is too long for anyone to even think they are representing their people. 16 years is greed; not service. Get in, make waves, go home, nap. Next, please!
