Ted Cruz: Was Texas senator standing on principles by not endorsing Donald Trump?

Ted Cruz, the Republican senator from Texas who was Donald Trump's biggest rival for the GOP presidential nomination, made quite a stir Wednesday night at the party's national convention.

Taking the podium, Cruz urged Americans to "vote your conscience," but pointedly did not endorse Trump as many expected he would do.

Many saw it as a slap in the face to the Republican nominee.

Supporters say Cruz was standing on principle and point out that the Trump campaign had seen the speech beforehand and that Cruz did not say anything negative about the nominee.

Critics says Cruz came off as a sore loser, a whiner who showed fellow Republicans he was out for himself and not a team player. There is even speculation that Cruz ruined his chances of ever being the party's nominee for president.

We want to know what you think. Should Ted Cruz have endorsed GOP nominee Donald Trump? Or was he standing on his principles?

Last Week: Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Last week's poll was about U.S. Supreme Court Associated Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg sharing her views on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Should Supreme Court justices stay out of politics? Or should they be able to voice their opinions like any other citizen?

I don't know if she lawfully can state her opinions about anything political. Some on Facebook says she can. This 83-year-old Supreme Court justice is proof that they can get too old. Being appointed for life is ridiculous. In these modern times that needs to be changed. Same goes with presidents-they should only serve one four year term.-B.J., Texarkana, Texas

  •  A large part of her role as Supreme Court Justice is impartiality. If she cannot stay objective and impartial, she needs to step down!
  •  If a judge can not be impartial, they have no business on the bench.
  •  Her opinion. She has a right to voice it.
  •  It's an opinion. Like it or not people have different opinions about everything. But Trump got butt hurt. Imagine that. Trump whining again.
