Poll says California chain beats Whataburger as Texans' favorite fast food

Business Insider recently surveyed Americans to find out their preferences in fast food.

The online financial and business news site then published a list showing the top choice in every state.

Chik-fil-A was the winner by a landslide. It was the favorite in more than half the states, including Arkansas. Which makes sense. According to the Business Insider site, Chik-fil-A generates the most revenue per location of any fast food chain.

Of the states where chicken doesn't rule, in nearby Oklahoma, Taco Bueno took top honors. In Nevada it was White Castle, those little square sliders some eat by the bagful. Wendy's rules in Vermont and McDonald's is No. 1 in Alaska, the District of Columbia and North Dakota.

And then there's Texas.

We already know what you're thinking. Has to be Whataburger, right?

Wrong.

According to Business Insider, In-N-Out Burger is king in the Lone Star State.

What? In-N-Out didn't even take first place in California where the chain was born and grew its cult following. That state's residents picked Raising Canes as their favorite place for fast grab.

In-N-Out doesn't even have that many locations in Texas. Whataburger is everywhere and is as beloved as Blue Bell ice cream.

Needless to say, this didn't go over well with a lot of Texans. And they took to social media to set the story straight.

Now, we have nothing against In-N-Out. We're sure it's a fine place for a burger and fries. But it's not Whataburger.

So they want us to believe that Texans prefer a California chain to the Lone Star State's own?

In our view, that's about as fake as fake news gets.
