Your Experience

Have you been affected by the government shutdown?

We've all been hearing stories about how the government shutdown is affecting federal workers and their families, as well as those who depend on assistance to make ends meet.

But the people we see on TV or read about online or in the newspapers tend to be from far away. We feel for them, but there is something of a disconnect. We don't know them.

We would like to bring the story home. The Texarkana Gazette wants to hear from those who have been affected by the shutdown. Maybe you are on furlough until the shutdown is resolved. Maybe you're considered essential and are still on the job-but without a paycheck. Perhaps the shutdown has affected some benefit payment that's important to you and your family.

We don't know your story. Only you can share what you're going through.

We invite those who have been affected in some way by the shutdown to get in touch with us at [email protected]. We would be happy to listen to your story and share it with our readers. We know some in the Twin Cities support the shutdown and feel President Trump's proposed border wall is worth the sacrifice. And there as those as well who disagree entirely. However you feel about the shutdown, it's important to know just what the consequences are for your friends and neighbors.
