OPINION | Your chance to show Texarkana is Twice As Nice

For a long time now, the two Texarkanas have used the slogan "Twice as Nice" to describe the advantages of living in Twin Cities.

Now we have the chance to make the country take notice.

Readers Digest magazine has name both Texarkana, Ark., and Texarkana, Texas, as top contenders for their third annual "The Nicest Place in America" contest.

The magazine collected stories from all across America to narrow the list. And Texarkana won top honors in both states.

But we are competing against 48 others cities for a cover story in the November issue of Readers Digest. That publicity will reach thousands and thousands of potential visitors.

One of the great things about this particular contest is that by voting for Texarkana, you are voting for both cities. It's not one or the other, but a combined entry. Truly "Twice as Nice."

Here's the thing, though. Public voting in the contest ends Sunday. But there's still time for you, your family and friends to vote one last time. Your's could be the vote that puts us over the top.

Our cities have been fortunate in these type of contests before. But it wasn't luck. It was an effort by our residents to ring up the winning total. We can do it again, with your help today.
