Letters to the Editor: New year, same habits

TO THE EDITOR:

Well, another new year is here. Most people never change, they only talk about it. Chances are if you had bad health habits or just bad money-costing habits one year ago you will still have them next year and the year after, 'till death do you part. That's 99 percent of you.

A. A gambling problem? I don't gamble. Why do you?

B. Alcohol problem? I don't drink, never have, never will. Why do you?

C. Drug problem? I don't do any illegal drugs-pop pills, ain't a pot head, etc. I never did any, never will. Why do you do drugs?

D. Smoking? I don't smoke, never have, never will. Ain't that stupid? Why do you smoke?

E. Fornicator? I don't fornicate, why do you? Most men's brains are below their belt. Right, ladies? Do I hear an Amen?

F. Social media hooked? Most of you are. Why are you hooked? Look around. When you go out to eat it's like everybody playing on their phone is hooked. That's because they are. I use my phone for talking on. It goes off at 5 p.m. You get my house phone and answering machine after that. Remember those?

Well, I'll write again in one year and 99 percent of you will still be doing whatever you are doing today. I'm sure 'till death do you part.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I've been a vegetarian for 10 years. I don't drink cokes, eat candy, etc. Call me at 1-800-WHY-YOU-BROKE. See you in 2019. Let's hang out.

Well, I gotta go walk and then to my favorite eating place to read one of the three newspapers I read every day. How boring, Joe. It sure is and I love it, too!
