Letter to the Editor: Doom and gloom

TO THE EDITOR:

How can anyone get a fair trial when the Texarkana Gazette prints a story every day of the horrible event? How can a jury be seated that has not heard of the trial, read details in continuous print or seen celebrity mug shots on the front page? I think a good attorney would ask for the trial to be moved to a location where it has not been so sensationalized.

If the Gazette needs stories to print, why not give details on why the city really closed the public pool at Spring Lake Park, with no intention to remodel, repair or reopen. The kiddie water sprinkler is nice, but the older kids need something also. And since the Rotary Club borrowed the money from the city to build this system, who pays for the repair and water use on a citizen's property? The taxpayer.

I think the newspaper should be more than doom and gloom and a yearly update on the Fouke Monster story.
