Noticed anything new about Broad Street lately?

In particular the south side of East Broad, in the 200 block?

Drive by some time.

Business owners along the block are renovating their buildings and doing a very nice job of it.

Several buildings in a row are coming along nicely, with Logan Electric already finished.

The ‘new look to these fine old buildings shows what can be done with our downtown.

While youre at it, take a look at the magnolia trees along both sides of Broad Street.

The pretty young trees are blooming right now. Their blossoms are quite a sight.

And just off Broad, the Arkansas-side City Hall is getting some sprucing up as well.

For years folks have been complaining about downtown. For years people including some at this newspaper have kept saying that ‘someone needs to do something about it.

Well, several ‘someones are doing something about it.

They dont have a ton of government money to speed the process, so everything wont get done overnight.

But that shouldnt stop us from noticing the good work that is being done, as its being done.

So the next time you head downtown, take the time to look around.

You might see some things you like, but just havent noticed before.
